Queen Mary 2 (Another of her)

5 Comments by Doc Vernon Published on 8th May 2016 09:05 PM

Yesterday afternoon, as we approached the Spanish coast, bound for Valencia, look who swept passed. The Queen Mary 2 was bound for Lisbon, so we were later told.

All three Cunard Queens rendezvous in Southampton next Tuesday morning, completing three world cruises of a combined 360 days.

Myself, I switch over at Southampton from the Queen Elizabeth to the Queen Mary 2 -- and presto, in 7 days & nights, I am back home!

The QM2 is the most Magnificent ship ever built.
I sailed on the Maiden Voyage for two weeks in 2004 and in 2006 did a six week trip around south America via Cape Horn up to L.A.
    Superb in every way.
    Cheers

    Hi Brian.
Definitely not up to the original Queen Mary in lines, maybe it's me getting old but for me the older passenger ships were the bees knees.
    Cheers Des

Vernon great photo of a great ship.

But only three 'queens ' in Southampton? Long gone when the days would see thousands of the there.

Sher was specially designed for the Winter North Atlantic, The only LINER now to be built like that, not a cruise ship.
The interior and all the facilities are incredible. It has the only Planetarium at sea, where you can "fly" to other planets with great effects.
    Brilliant.
    Cheers
    Brian.

Brian, if you stay in the bar long enough you can fly to anywhere you want.
