Stephen Card is, without question, one of the very finest marine artists of our time. His work is brilliant, absolutely flawless.

And his paintings adorn liners themselves, especially on Holland America's fleet.

But soon, in yet another title from our Bermuda-based wizard-of-the-brush, a new, exciting, visually splendid book -- aptly named Steam & Canvas -- will come from publication in Holland, via another great friend, Dr Nico Guns.

But stop: How does Nico find the time -- himself, he is penning a massive, multi-volume history (all in hardcover & overflowing with photos, sketches, even color pull-outs) of the beloved Nieuw Amsterdam of 1938.

Stephen's new book is highlighted by an outbound, white-hulled Mauretania. In New York's Upper Bay, the view is timed to the mid 1930s.
