Re: DDay
All told, it appears eight major British " merchants " were involved with the first assault convoy to Omaha Beach. The other half, the American contingent, is attached.

Re: DDay
Further research indicates the cruising diagram is WRONG. In place of Princess Margaret, ADD PRINCESS MAUD. Her composition can still be seen on page 32 of the GREEN LIST. I guess we Americans can't tell one princess from another...

Re: DDay
I have done extensive research since my last post. My father, Harry Sanders was on the Empire MacDermott on D day. Can anyone confirm that this ship delivered US Troops to Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944? Thx!

Re: DDay
Likely NOT. Being a merchant aircraft carrier, she was involved with convoy escort duty. In particular, convoy HX-293 that departed N.Y.C. on May 27, 1944 and arrived in Liverpool on June 9, 1944, after D-day.

Re: DDay
Hello,
For the Omaha landings Princess Margaret was replaced by Princess Maud after a collision. Princess Margaret ended up being deployed off Sword.

Re: DDay
Steve, if the terry you are referring to is Red Lead Ted, sadly crossed the bar about 2 years ago.
