Oropesa 1938
I have a photo of some discharge papers for my cousin Thomas Borrowdale Jopson. They show he had been working as a Gym Attendant on SS Oropesa until he left in August 1938.
According to the Wikipedia entry for this ill fated ship (sunk by a Uboat in 1941), is was laid up in Dartmouth from 1931-37 so what was it doing in 1938? Was it briefly recommissioned before being used as a troop ship in 1939?
Any information appreciated.
