Old friends and shipmates
Hi.
We are looking for old crew mates for my dad. His name is Peter Doyle. He is from Tramore Co Waterford Ireland. He worked onboard the MV Northumberland and MV Essex are the 2 ships we know about. He worked for The New Zealand shipping company or P&O during the 1960’s and 1970’s. He spent a lot of time in Australia and New Zealand. He was from Waterford in Ireland and sailed from the UK to New Zealand. We believe he had a serious relationship in New Zealand and had a son and we are desperately trying to find out more information. He also lived in the Uk while he was sailing. He went onto ships between Uk and Ireland after his international days!!
Thank so much for any help

Re: Old friends and shipmates
Peter.
I left the UK in 1956 and sailed on the NZ coast for a few years but can't recall the name, unfortunately I have lost touch with all my mates on the coast there, I can only think of maybe an advert in the Auckland Herald, that is if its still going.

There’s also a Facebook group for the New Zealand Shipping Company Association.
