Bosun, Bill Thomas
Hi Gwyn,
The bosun that you mentioned was probably Bill Thomas from Amlwch who I sailed with on the Bellerophon in 1952/54. Was he a little tubby man.?. The deck crowd were nearly all from North Wales and we had four Jones's amongst them. Tegwyn, Hughie, Theo and John. All good lads. Some of the deck crowd called the bosun Griff after his father who was also a bosun before him.
Alec.

My grand-dad sailed on the Antenor to China in 1884 as AB but I always envied him as I never sailed in Blue Funnel , I sailed in everything else . The question I want to ask is I talked a good friend as a boy to ask the Alfred Dockmaster could he help him to get taken on with Blue Funnel .Which he did in 1947 , his name was Alec Parry from Egremont (Wirral) & he stayed with Blue Funnel all his career on deck , & does anyone remember .
