Another newbie.
I joined on April 23rd, 1963 in Lourenco Marques, Mocambique, after growing up in Rhodesia, and was taken aboard the "Ayreshire" bound for Hobart Tasmania as a 1st trip cadet. Served my apprenticeship with British & Commonwealth on several Clan boats as well as the Pendennis Castle.

Hi Capt Apollo.
Welcome aboard hope you enjoy the site. Lot of tall tales and easy crew to get on with. Hope you weren't taken aboard the "Ayreshire" under guard bound for Tasmania for the rest of your natural life; ha ha.
If you list your ships with the dates maybe someone who sailed with you will spot it, we have had many shipmates reunited aboard here.
Cheers Des

Hi Capt Appollo
I must have been on the Ayrshire when you joined it, as I signed on Birkenhead March 1963 for the round trip and signed off Tilbury July1963.
Sorry can't remember your name, but I also sailed Clan Line, Scottish tankers and a couple of old Castle ships.
Best regards
Harry Hopkins Ex Chief Electrian.
