Help to identify the uniform and service

I'm hoping someone can identify the uniform on the attached picture. This was taken in 1957 and is of my late father William Gibson (R336013). Sadly I know very little of my father prior to when I was born in 1962. The only information I have is that I believe he was Merchant Navy and spent the majority of his service in the 1950's and early 60's with the Shaw Savill & Albion Line. I definitely know he served on the Dominion Monarch, and for a time on the Saracen in early 1959. I've tried to identify the cap badge to help, but to no avail.

Hi Brett. Have blown up the hat badge. It looks like a standard Merchant Navy cap badge.

I cannot see the Badge very clearly ,so not sure which Company. Possibly others with better Sight may be able to make this out! But could well be Shaw Saville if he was with them mainly!

As it is in Black and White makes it difficult, however i have also tried to change to Sepia which shows up a wee bit better,and with Mag Glass it could as said well be that of Shaw Saville and Albion Line. But thats just my guess??

There again as he was on the Saracen in 1959 the Badge could also be from the New Zealand Sg Company Ltd. ??

And can I assume that the rank on the jacket, denotes the rank of Chief Officer?

The cap badge of the Shaw Savill Line makes sense and I definitely know he served on the Dominion Monarch, as he met my mother onboard this ship in 1955. My mother who was 19 at the time had travelled from Bendigo, Victoria to London to see the world and got a job on the DM as a hairdresser. She first boarded the DM in Las Palmas and met my father who was a Deck Officer at the time. They got married in London in 1957 and continued to cruise the oceans before settling down and having a family in 1962.

Thanks so very much for this information.
I did know about the Seaman's Pouch at the National Archives having traced that through the internet. Unfortunately I need to visit the National Archives in Kew in person and with Covid-19 they only offer limited dates and restricted numbers on a first come first served basis. No joy so far, as they go as quick as they're released. I have no idea what information the Seaman's Pouch will hold, but I did not know about the CRS10. So will definitely add that to my list to review when I get a chance to get a slot. Am hoping it might shed more light on his life at sea.

#4 shows DoB as 1913, but according #6 he was born on 6.12.1929, just an observation, nothing more, as I admire all efforts made.

I noticed those dates of 1913 and 1972, and assumed it may refer to a dated section where this document is held, rather than his birth and death years. I shall hopefully find out when I can access the records. But my father was born in Dec1929 and passed away in Apr2000.
