Re: Celebrity Edge, 1 billion dollar ship
horrible looking thing, i see that the crew/passenger ratio is nearly two to one. They are launching these monstrosities several times a week worldwide, only wants another financial problem worldwide, which so called experts are worried about, and the scrap yards will do a roaring trade, kt

Re: Celebrity Edge, 1 billion dollar ship
The ship is being built at Saint-Nazaire, France, This used to be a bankrupt yard that had closed.
When Cunard wanted the Queen Mary 2, built, , Harland Wolfe in Belfast won the contract, they asked Phony Blair's government for a subsidy to start the build.
Phony Bliar said NO, [ he was at the time angling for the Presidential job in the EU,] and he handed the job to Saint-Nazaire, France,
They have Not stopped building ships ever since,
Harland Wolfe`s` closed down and 4,000 jobs were lost.

Re: Celebrity Edge, 1 billion dollar ship
There are still some cruise ships that partially resemble ships designs we knew.
But more and more of these are entering the industry.
At the last count some 90 are either on the drawing board or being built.
The industry is such now that constantly the need for new gimics is the order of the day.
Not the style of ship we, or B Rian I suspect, are keen on though with less than 3,000 bloods it will not be too crowded.
Crew ratio is normal at about that rate now.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.
