Re: Princess cruises cancelled
As I said in a previous post, Everyone will be medically examined before being allowed on board,
The people I stand next to in a Supermarket, a Pub , a shop, in the street have not all been Medically examined. so it is much more dangerous ashore. Safer on a ship in mid Pacific.
If I cancel we lose all our money, £15,000, Only insured if it is cancelled Officially.
I am 85 years old in about 12 weeks, I have faced death many times in that time, and Never backed down. Lost many friends and family at a lot earlier age than me, I have been Lucky and appreciate it.
so no way am I backing down to this.
one consolation is,.. When you are Dead, you don't know you are Dead. so no probs.
What is the point of living if you have to hide away, fearful. I love having adventures and will not stop until forced to.
I keep Fit,, I do Weight Lifting daily, and on my exercise bike. My Doctor said, I am fitter than many 40 year olds, I do an hour every day
There, I feel better for that.
This time next week, if the Good Lord is Willing and the Creeks don't rise , I will be sailing across the Pacific to Hawaii.
Cheers , Brian

Re: Princess cruises cancelled
First Viking suspended its entire cruise operations, then Princess Cruises. That’s 73 river cruise ships and 24 ocean ships, parked up, idle for two months. And now Virgin Voyages has postponed the start of Scarlet Lady's maiden voyage from April to August. You could well be wondering, is this the death knell for an industry that has been brought to its knees by coronavirus.
I would be concerned.

Re: Princess cruises cancelled
My wife and myself are booked on a P&O cruise (Aurora) for 5th June 18 nights.
P&O have advised that we will be able to cancel up to 2 days before departure,
then we will receive a Future Cruise Credit for 100% of the cost.
Just have to wait and see.

Re: Princess cruises cancelled
I have just returned from Southampton hospital with the wife for her last checks before her op on Tuesday, possibly, and the taxi driver who took us to the hospital was in a state, as with the cruise liners cancelling, now saga and MSC they are struggling to make a living. When one of these massive ships embark and disembark it is almost all taxis going full taps. This virus is going to really hurt many many people, kt

#14. Bon Voyage Brian . Be careful and keep clear of those with chicken pox . It is lethal for older people. Won’t mention the other precautions which involve seagulls seaboots as someone so aptly described. Remember to close your eyes if using a bidet. JS.

Re: Princess cruises cancelled
From what I can glean from the news, a small percentage of passengers on these cruise liners posted positive to the virus, but nearly all the crew posted positive, I don't know much about the modern cruise ship, but do the crews live in dormitories? I know when I went down to join the Queen Mary me and my mate refused to sign when we saw the accommodation. If the modern cruise liners can't give the crew decent accommodation these days they don't deserve to be in business. It does appear that the passengers being in decent accommodation as compered to the crew must have been the difference between contacting it and not.

Re: Princess cruises cancelled
Des crew accommodation on cruise ships today are as good as those on passengers ships of the 60's.
Most cruise companies now have declared some stop to sailing until April/May.
Cunard and Holland America have to dater made no announcements, but Royal Carribean are insisting that any one over 70 intending to sail in the near future must provide a medical certificate stating they are fit.

Happy daze John in Oz.
