Re: Princess cruises cancelled
As said my wife and I are supposed to be off on the Aurora early June.
She had a dental appointment at "Guys Hospital" on Friday, she had a text message Thursday stating all Outpatient appointments were cancelled.
For how long I don't know.
Seems it's winding up a bit !
Happy Days.

Re: Princess cruises cancelled
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office have issued a Statement,
OVER 70s ADVISED AGAINST TRAVELLING ON CRUISE SHIPS.
That is discrimination.
if they said people of a certain nationality or religion should not go on cruise ships everyone would be screaming Discrimination. Why 70?
I have sailed with men working and older than me on ships. I am super fit, the Cardiologist said last week when I had a check up to carry on lifting my weights and using my exercise Bike. said I was very fit.
so some poncy civil servant says I should not go on a cruise, I have been sailing round the world every year since 1950, 70 years.
So what do I do on Wednesday? do I fly to San Diego or stay home?
if I do not go I lose £15,000

Re: Princess cruises cancelled
Just got a message,
The cruise is cancelled
Holland America have cancelled all cruises for 30 days,
French Polynesia,.....Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora, have refused cruise ships calling. That is where I was bound,.
So I will now see if I can get my money back including air fare and hotels.
Cheers
Brian

Re: Princess cruises cancelled
Sad if you lost your Money Capt but that at times is the name of the game ,i know its very hard but these things at times are sort of a hit and miss ,its a wonder that they do not have Insurances against out of the Air happenings!
As for Age ,well although i can agree with you on that ,it is just again something that has come about with most all Cruise Lines and Aircraft Travel , so we i guess must just go with the flow.
Just last night on TV there was a talk by one of the Leading Cardiologists here saying exactly the sort of thing on age,and that is over 65 was mentioned and especially Heart patients are far more vunerable to catch this awful Virus ,and if they do have so much less chance of survival,as the Heart has to work a lot harder to fight much harder on any Lung Infections /
So sorry to hear of this but hopefully it will soon be all over (Big Hope) and you will once again be going on your World Jaunts!
Cheers

Re: Princess cruises cancelled
Commiserations Brian, like the voyage charter is best to check up on the clauses, remember the strike clause for stoppage of cargo work was always best to confer who payed for such. Weather and machinery breakdowns were also mainly dual for compensation , and the P and I clubs had to dip their hands into their pockets. That strike clause however was always a bone of contention. When this virus leaves the headlines and climate change gets back as the focal point of news , the cruise liners will be back in force after your business offering all sorts, don’t accept the liquorice ones . Nothing wrong with Fleetwood. Cheers J.S.

They are all following on now, MSC have called off all for two months.Only a matter of time before they all follow. Only needs one singleperson to slip through the net and everyone is caught up in this mess. Like it or not, a cruise is quite simply not the place to be right now out of consideration to your fellow human beings even if you yourself couldn't give a fig.
