Sad indeed. Why don't they donate these precious treasures to a maritime museum where they might receive a measure of respect?

Here in Oz e are avery lucky on this issue. Very often the gov will not allow such memorabillia to leave the country, but also we have a number of national shrines where family members can donate such items. they are then put on displ;ay for the public to see. Shrine here in Melbourne has a section with over 3000 medals on show, all donated.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Radio Officer John Dalrymple Kilgour... R239903
This morning,as we approach Remembrance Day,I feel even sadder about the auctioning of one of our 'shipmate's ' personal memorabilia. There were no opening bids at £149.99 for them, and the vendor has now discounted them by £50 to a £99.99 starting bid.
What price memories?.............

What Price Memories ?........
I just wish some member of this Radio Officer's family,if any ,or a museum, or other organisation would step in to save these items.
They have been discounted again .... to £75.

Such a shame for this WW II veteran's memorabilia.

Sad to say, Davy, that any family he may have are probably not aware of his service. Who knows, in years to come they may do what many are doing now and attempt to find out what he did and the ships he served on during WW2. They may even come knocking at the door of this forum only to find out what they have missed. Quite sad really.
Regards
Hugh

Radio Officer's WWII Atlantic Service Memorabilia...
There has not been one single bidder for these items in the last few weeks...and the seller has sadly lowered the starting bid again in the last 24 hours...to just £50.

Memorabilia
At last, there was one bid for these items-which was successful, and went for £50 plus £2.50 p+p.
The Winner was profiled as a WWII /Nautical Memorabilia collector,or possibly dealer,so hopefully they will one day go to a good home...and Radio Officer John Dalrymple Kilgour will not now be forgotten........
