When Harrisons had their auction of memorabilia, I wanted the model of the Astronomer, my first ship, and gave instructions to bid to £1000 pounds, thinking a bid like this was really big time, it sold for £10,000.!!!

Models
Well folks on reading this I had already sved some pages from a short time ago. these models mloked very interesting ,what they are made of I know not what as my command of German is pretty close to zero. However it seems they might have quiet a few well known British ships amongst their products . the web pages show some interesting looking shops ,so while the guvnor's not looking I might slip away over there...Its probable that some of you may already know of these models Warmest Regards,Alan.
PS I dont know of any ship model shops in Uk apart from platic kit shops

Bob,
Your mention of the Politician brought back memories of the movie about the wreck, I think it was called "Whisky Galore" ??? But the name of the ship in the movie was not the ship's real name. Was the Politician the real name or the movie name?

Politician
Dear Bob ,thanks for the info and the photo (very nice) I have allways been interested in ship models ,some I have built but the smaller ones are perhaps better, more room . I have a few plans of the waterline series that I cut from Model boat magazine many years ago .At the time I made a few scale control line aircraft, a few plans of them in the loft also . Although I have made some Willhelmshaven ship card models in the past and plastic kits I have never been sure about the best materials for scratch built ie: type of wood /card to use that would last.So much to do so little time. I was allways going to getroundtuit. Best Regards, Alan.

The Governor was my first ship in Harrison Line, and she was a wonderful ship.
Duke Drennan the Politician was the real name of the ship.
In the film she was named the Cabinet Minister.
