Nostalgia.
What a day I have had today,I could've been having a few pints of Wrexham lager in the Pig on the Carinthia, but no I was in the L'pool branch of the MNA.Different feelings of happiness and sadness whilst listening to the music of the guy on the stage who is singing all our 50's and 60's stuff, every song takes you back in your memory to a different part of the world,B.A.Valpo,Rio De Janerio,NZ or OZ.The old guy having a "bop" with a woman the same age,he can still strut his stuff still a good mover and I wonder where the music is taking him to has he shows off his skills on the floor. After the dancing was over invites to take the floor and give out your best song.We had songs from the 50's the Beatles to songs from the Musicals every one a gem despite their ages they all had a great pair of lungs on them.I don't think you would get a cabaret like this on any cruise ship, and the beauty is it's free and the beer is cheap. It would be great if the next Liverpool meet up could be held on a Thursday I know everyone would realy enjoy the day.
Regards.

Before we have any comments on the old guy having a "bop" he was only having I suppose we could call a jive.

Re: Nostalgia.
Hi Brian,Yes Brian I was in the Eldonian today, some good singers and a range of music.I don't know if you know this Reverend who made the L'pool Echo today.Canon Robert Evans Merseyside's best known maritime chaplain age 91.Canon Bob who raised funds over the years for a Merchant Navy retirement home wanted to move into the home to finish his years. The Nautilus Wefare Fund committee, which runs Mariners Park, said Canon Evans did not meet it's "critical criteria"to accept only seafarers and dependents.Canon Evans was chaplain to the Mersey Mission to Seamen. He did a lot for Seamen on Merseyside but I don't think he is going to get into this home where they reckon they have 90 on the waiting list.
Regards.

Re: Nostalgia.
Hi Charlie,
Charlie Hobson is known as "The Bard of Bootle" , he writes some good poems, I was chatting to him and had a good laugh as we always do on MN day last month. nice fella.
He is a mate of Joe Finnegan who now lives in Safety Bay just South of Perth near Rockingham. Going to see him in February. He was over last year.
I have some photos of Charlie somewhere in my old computer, I will try and find them
Cheers
Brian
