Welfare Minister Lord Freud
This Tory Welfare Minister, Has got to go. What a bloody insult to the disabled of this country. Pity he doesn't understand the word Hunger. Bloody Livid,
David Anthony Freud, Baron Freud (born 24 June 1950) is a British journalist, businessman, Conservative politician and welfare adviser and is a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. He is a great grandson of Sigmund Freud, and son of Annette Krarup and Walter Freud. Freud's book describing his career in the city has been described as "morally ambiguous". Whilst working in the City of London he was called by a colleague the "Fraud Squad" because of his ability to "heavily promote new share issues that subsequently tanked."[1] Though having no previous experience in the welfare sector he was asked by Tony Blair to provide a review of these services. The "Freud Report" and his subsequent parliamentary career have greatly influenced government policy on the provision of welfare services. In the aftermath of the financial crisis of 2008 his policies have been described as "making the poor pay for the risk-taking of the rich.

Re: Welfare Minister Lord Freud
Thanks for that Terry,
What I cannot understand , is ...........
"Though having no previous experience in the welfare sector he was asked by Tony Blair to provide a review of these services."
Now what has Tony Bliar got to do with asking a Tory to do a review.......??
.
.In the last few years there have been MPs who have disabilities...............
Terry Dicks, MP for Hayes and Harlington 1983–97, who has cerebral palsy.
Gordon Brown MP for Dunfermline East 1983-2005 and Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath since 2005, Prime Minister 2007-2010. Blind in left eye since a rugby accident in 1967.
Emma Nicholson, MP for Devon West and Torridge 1987-97, who was deaf since age 16.
David Blunkett, MP for Sheffield Brightside 1987-2010 and Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough since 2010, who has been blind since birth.
Anne Begg, MP for Aberdeen South since 1997, who has used a wheelchair for many years due to a degenerative disease.
Paul Maynard, MP for Blackpool North and Cleveleys since 2010, who has cerebral palsy.
.
Some Conservative and some Labour.
.
So would they be in Parliament on £2 an hour???
personally I do not think any MP is worth £2 an hour.
Lord Fraud is a member of the House of Lords. unelected. BUT he can earn £350 a DAY just for showing his face.
But why did Bliar ask him to do this ?? What favours did Bliar expect.??
I would not buy a second hand car off any Polititian.

Re: Welfare Minister Lord Freud
John Prescot spent a long time campaigning for the House of Lords to be abolished.
.
THEN , "Do you want to be a Lord, John?". "Yes please, £350 a day for snoozing, that will do nicely"
says it all.
Brian.

Re: Welfare Minister Lord Freud
Agree with all the replies, This is what pis*es me off with our Lord and Ladyships they are non producers surplus to requirement of absolutely no consequence at all to the welfare of this country let alone the disabled. He said what he was thinking out loud caught with his pants down, And for Cameron to rant in the house that know one can lecture him on people with disabilities because of his father and son which is very sad. It should make him more understanding why disabled people can be so outraged by Freud,s comments. When I first heard his comments on tape I have to be honest the first person that came to mind was bloody Hitler. He is not fitting to hold the position that he does and he has to go I would expect him to resign before the end of the week. It makes one wonder what else this government have up there sleeve if they get another term in office. But then that's down to the electorate to decide. It only strengthens my resolve that a good politician doesn't exist these days, If what he said is not Tory policy or the way they are thinking then why hasn't Cameron called for his resignation. Disgusted Terry.

Re: Welfare Minister Lord Freud
Saw the item on the evening news and find his remarks utterly disgusting and insulting to those people who are disabled. The man should be sacked from the Conservative party, stripped of his Lordship or whatever it is called, and stripped of all pension rights. If Milliband had the balls (yes I know he has Nick) he should rally all of the disabled in this country and well as all able bodied and demand that this cretin is thrown out of public office for good. Maybe then these so called MP's who are paid to look after our interests will think twice before opening their mouths. As for the House of Lords that should have been disbanded years ago.
Regards
John

Re: Welfare Minister Lord Freud
Just down the next road from me was REMPLOY, which employed disabled people,
It gave them a wage, it gave them the dignity of working instead of staying home. it made them feel useful.
Two years ago the government had it closed down to save money. The building is lying empty.
Now those people are staying home on benefits paid for by the tax payer,
before they paid taxes and NI stamps,
so if you add what they they were paying and then what they are now getting in benefits, the government must be working at a loss.
A school boy could tell the government that it is on a loser by sacking all those people.
Cheers
Brian
