South central ambulance service
Well today's idiot trick was to fall off my walking frame zimmer frame one-way my backside vertically descending only way I can get out is the ambulances carry an inflatable cushion I weigh 120 kilos so I'm not going to get lifted easily took two hours for the ambulance to get to me there except really busy really pleased they got me up very quickly and dusted me down checked me over and I'm ok I said you're very busy for a Thursday she said yes the previous call was out to a mother whose child has cut his knee playing football and needed a plaster on it . Really you calling 999 ambulance out for something like that if I cut my knee playing football I used to get told off by my Mum for being careless certainly not an emergency ambulance so in talking to the young ladies who came out to lift me off the floor with their magic inflatable bag a huge percentage of the calls that they do are cut fingers don't feel very well feeling a bit rough none of the things that I would ever ever called an emergency ambulance out for it seems that today's generation regards the ambulance as a easy to use service and it's better than booking an appointment with the doctor

Rob, article on BBC East Midlands news a few weeks ago, woman dialled 999, asking if she could keep eggs in the fridge. She was a bit concerned about one egg that was cracked.

Re: South central ambulance service
Trust you are feeling better Rob. The way to handle abuse of the emergency services, Ambulance etc! Is that the dispatcher informs the caller that when the Ambulance arrives or Para medics /emergency services, If the service attending deem that it is not an emergency then a payment of £200 will be paid there and then, credit cards accepted.
Okay some will say not again, in France to see the doctor €23.00, paid before you leave the surgery, then claim it back, but only if the doctor decides you did need attention.

Re: South central ambulance service
Hi Rob.
Hope you are back on your feet so to speak and everything is OK now.
I hope your ambulance attendants are better treated by your govt than ours, they are talking about strike action because the govt want all the ambos to pay .$83 for a police check for working with kids. We have civilian people in the police service sitting on their backsides who could do it for nought.
Cheers Des

Re: South central ambulance service
I'm doing fine I only fell over 6 months ago but I've got it off to a fine art is my own stupidity like climbing a ladder I need three points of contact between hands-on frame and feet on floor I heard the parcel courier at the doorbell while I was in the loo and I was exiting the loo pulling up my shorts and not hanging on properties in a frame
.
The two young lady paramedics that came out were absolutely brilliant but some of the stories that they were relating where a joke they've been called out for all times of stupidity ranging from hangovers to a sticking plaster why because people can't be bothered to make an appointment with the doctor or look after themselves the A&E department is full of drunks and overdose drug addicts which slow down the genuine people getting through the hospital door . I listen to all these people on radio and TV saying how the politicians need to sort the Health Service out if the people that are wasting the time of the NHS sorted themselves out I'm sure half the cost of A&E and the ambulance service would be saved and the service would be 100% better it's no good blaming funding when we've got idiots gumming up the service
But thanks for the good wishes it's an unfortunate part of having in partial tetraplegia and cervical myelopathy every now and again you fall over I don't suppose I'll be able to pass an eng1 from a wheelchair when I first went to see I'm sure you could do .
And it's 2/11 Cappy it's John Sabourn that owes you 3/9

Re: South central ambulance service
Des, the working with children certificate is now required by just about anyone in a public service position.
Here in Victoria most are paid for by the employer.
Our ambos get caught up in a similar manner and we now have a radios add going telling stupid people not to call them out for cuts and bruises that can be dealt with by a GP.
But one problem is with the ethnic groups who think it is the way to go, similar may have been the way in their country of origin so they continue.
We also have a phone service 24/7 with nurse on call. If you need attention you ring the number and a nurse takes the call, she will then make a diagnosis as to what level of care you need.
But mate falling off a Zimmer frame, you really do need to take more water with it.
Maybe a motorized one is the way to go V8 maybe?LOL.
But on a more serious note I hope al is well now.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: South central ambulance service
In my local paper it was reported that a woman took her little son to A&E because he had dog crap on his shoe and wanted them to clean it.
Nothing wrong with NHS just the idiots who abuse it.
Yesterday TV News said TWO MILLION people went to A&E in January.
What kind of an unhealthy Nation is this.?
Hope your treatment gets you back on your feet again Rob.
All the best
Brian
