Hi Stephan.
Welcome to the site, many good tales on here, and a good chance to meet up with old shipmates, even some old peanuts. They have a site on the web you may have seen it.

Hi - was my only trip as assistant Steward - do you remember me? It's been such a long time and I was very focussed on work (too focussed!) but have fond memories of every ship I sailed on.

Can you post a link for the peanuts site Des please?
Thanks and thanks for the welcome. Finally making time to reconnect with some old ship mates!

Hey, yes, I paid off in Tartous, then that rickety bus ride through the desert to Damascus. I stayed awake just for the experience and watched the missiles shooting overhead. Then we got stopped and had to offload everything and some soldier had his beady eye on my boombox, I got angry! I think the bribe to get passed that checkpoint went up a bit, because these guys were just seeing what they could grab of our gear and the ship chandler organising the trip would not let them...
I'm living in Johannesburg now, where are you?
