Japan
What gets me about the Japanese their history of the part they played as been swept aside in Japan .The nice smile that they can give you is what sometimes they did to us then they would give you a belting for no reason .They have never apologisedfor there actions to all those people and pows who came under their rule during the ww2

japan
hi to all. have never visited Japan, *only know hat i have read and heard, Japan as stated in Post 1 was only *very young *as a westernised nation, 80 years *from nothing but a Peasant Fuedal *Army, *to one of the most modern in the world, *they were taught from birth it was an honour to die for the Emperor, Bushido was still practiced, in 1942 most still lived as they had for centuries, *to surrender was dishonourable, *they did not recognise the Geneva *Convention of warfare, *our rules meant nothing to them, if you are taught those ethics you will be a fearsome foe, to win at any cost, no rules apply to you. they *knew no better. *i still think what happened in Europe by so called civilised countries , * the extermination camps, *was by far the worst.

Same thing today
Nothing has been learned by history. If so we would be taking action now and protecting our own borders. Re, the Japanese they were not party to the Geneva Convention so the argument some put up about not conforming to same does not apply. If you want to take the Japanese nation as an example of their war crimes so be it. By the same token I would take our present problems in the world and judge the fanatical people who are planting bombs etc. in the name of religion and class them all iin one book, just to be on the safe side. Treat the whole lot as one. Cheers John Sabourn

Here in Oz there are mixed feelings about Japan and the Japanese. Many recall the nurses killed by them and a good number suffered on the death railway, yet the younger generation are learning Jaanese and working there. They have bought and taken over parts of the country mainly in the Queensland area and in some Brisbane suburbs they even put signs up in Japanese in an effort to attract more tourism from there. they are similar in my mind to the iron fist hidden in a velvet glove.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Battle Cries
In every war going back to the start of time there has always been a rallying call. U.K. For King and Country. Japan. For the Emperor(or words to that effect). The Head Cases For Allah. Can anyone think of other countries. As said in a previous post the UK with no Royal Family would have been for Tony Blair and Country, certainly has an odd ring to it. War in general is about killing your enemy, and that is what the front line and special forces troops are taught to do. Whichever way you look at it no one in their right mind wants this except our present day extremists. The thing is finding ways to neutralize them or in other words leaving them together en masse to rot to their own devices, certainly not to welcome them into at present stable countries. Until we get people in government with the Balls to say no, this is going to continue to detererioate to a level none of us want. As far as I am concerned the problems in the Middle East is just that their Problems and should be left alone to sort out. As soon as Bin Laden was taken out, all foreign troops should have been withdrawn, that was the reason they were there for, and there being no further reason to stay there. Libya was a big mistake by the British Government and should have been done in 1988. They were incompetent then and by the looks of it continue to be so. The likes of the last world war ordinary people were lining up to fight for their country against a so called evil enemy. I doubt very much if any government today would get the same response. Cheers John Sabourn

not much change to be seen in Libya, *Egypt has thrown away there Revolution Victory, * with the Islamic Brotherhood in Power, *if Assad goes in Syria *more than likely more Islamists will take over, *these People *dont know what they want, *there lives are ruled by *****, and they seem to want to still live in the dark ages. *best to leave them a;lone, *The Taliban will take over Afghanistan as soon as we leave, what a waste of lives lost there, but our Goverment will not learn, expect the Russians are laughing at us, they got out quickly. the Arab world is in flames.

Ref. post 17
That sounds similar to some of the guards excuses at the Jewish Death camps that some of the guards made, they were only obeying orders. Cheers John Sabourn
