The above is an Admiral Lord Nelson Foudroyant Blackpool Medallion.
It was made from copper taken from the wreck of Nelsons Flagship 'Foudroyant' after she was wrecked at Blackpool on 16th June1897.
Its interesting history if you Google ' Nelson Fourdroyant Medallion'.Sorry but its too much for me to write out.
The title of the thread however refers to me. I am sure we have all moved house on a number of times in ourlives and you know how things accumulate, well I've about 6 tool boxes in the shed, all half full and my good lady Cora has been nagging me to make some space and sort t the tool boxes out. WEll yesterday I started and in one of the tool boxes I found three small bags of coins which I had forgotton all about. It included proper money halfpennies, threepeny joey, halfcrowns, shilling pieces they dont amount to a lot but nice to keep and in amoungst them all was ....... you guessed it a Lord Nelson Foudroyant Medallion exactly as depicted in the above pictures. I must say that I feel really chuffed but I cannot for the life of me remember where on earth I got it from.
John.
