Details of old ships including ships logs
Thank you for accepting me on the forum.
I have joined as I am researching my ancestors' marine occupational history. I have the names of various ships they served on and wondered if anyone knew where I can get more information such as logs etc.
The ships and dates concerned are
Almanzora 136353 1923
Osiris ? 24161 1877
Magdala ? 59187 1879
Pharos 81385 1884
Gascony 97599 1890- 1892
Sphynx 91226 1894
Louisiana 1898 99322
Nitocris 106824 1900
Amasis 102195 1902
Guienne 97598 1903
New York 1917 sailed from Liverpool to New York several times that year
Silarus 143789 1924
The ancestors are all called James Filson and their details are 1828-1872 (drowned in Prince's dock Liverpool) 1855-1903 (asphyxiated on Guienne ) 1900-1987 (on ships 1917-1924)
Apologies if this is not the correct place for these questions but any help would be gratefully received
Jane

Re: Details of old ships including ships logs
This site may help:
https://www.mun.ca/mha/holdings/searchcombinedcrews.php
Memorial University of Newfoundland.
"The Maritime History Archive holds approximately 75 percent of the surviving crew lists (also called crew agreements) and official log books of British registered vessels for the periods 1857-1942 (predominantly 1863-1938) and 1951-1976. The crew lists and logbooks for voyages terminating in the years 1857-1942 are indexed and can be searched here. The crew agreements for the years 1951-1976 have not been indexed."
