What a beautiful old vessel and beautifully restored, does anyone have her history.
Also what is the relationship with Strick Line, I don't read Dutch but there is reference to "Strik"
in the attached wording and the Funnel & Bow markings have the Strick Line markings.

Had occasion to visit the 'Great Britain' in Bristol a couple of weeks ago and noticed she was flying the White Ensign at the stern naturally I had the temerity to ask the curator why, as the vessel was never commissioned into Naval Service and should be flying the Red Ensign and at best Blue Ensign in five or more crewmen including Master were RNR/RNVR. He advised me that at one time the Queen had visited the vessel and was entitled to fly the White Ensign, I asked him to check is facts on Google and his many documents, which give him his due he did, and found that the vessel was not entitled to fly the White Ensign but they would be keeping it as the public liked it, can't win them all I suppose.

When I visited I asked the same question and was told that after its launch the then Prince of Wales used it as his official yacht and as such it flew the White Ensign He then gave the ship special dispensation to always fly this flag.

At the weekend we went to see a collection of restored steam engines.
A great collection with many still working.
All restored by a few dedicated members.
But quite amazing was done of the generators, it was removed from the Oriana prior to her being scrapped.
