Edinburgh Tattoo 2017
At this time for many years I have enjoyed the Annual Edinburgh Tattoo on television. Tonight my wife and I were absolutely enthralled with it's most magnificent production I have seen. A recording can be bought and we are certainly going to get one. In fact two, one for our son in the US who was in the Junior Black Watch when we were living in Perthshire back in the 1970s. Such beauty, talent and precision!

Hi Richard, Have to agree with you.
I went to see it at our local movie theater.
Love the pipes and drums.
The Scottish dancers were incredible.
Not too thrilled with the America contingent though.

I go along with that Den. It was good to see Shetland represented and that Viking Longboat scene was indeed spectacular. The Skye Boat song in Japanese (her beautiful voice) and the precision of her crew. Wow!

Re: Edinburgh Tattoo 2017
Never been to an actual Edinburgh Tattoo but enjoyed many over the years on TV.
Last visit, arrived as they were taking down the stands and seating.
So impressive on TV, likely live.
Was told the area was usually a car park.
Reminded me of my only visit to Andorra years ago.
Apparently, the main car park (we were there summertime)
was the learner / starter slope during ski season.

Re: Edinburgh Tattoo 2017
Without wishing to offend my Scottish friends.
I think the mountains in Scotland are all in the ski beginning category.
Believe the highest has less than 2000 ft vertical.
That doesn't mean the hight of the mountain.
Vertical is from the ski base to the top of the highest lift.

Re: Edinburgh Tattoo 2017
Thinking about the Edinburgh Tattoo whatever happened to the tattoo that we used to get annually I think from the Earls Court Arena used to always be on TV a two or three hours show of horses and military precision it must have stopped at least 30 years ago

Re: Edinburgh Tattoo 2017
Hi Richard.
I think it was the best ever. My wife and I were a bit miffed that the Japs were invited, but when that girl started singing that though went out the window, perfect pitch.
I think there was more of the Scottish theme this time which was great, I could listen to the pipe bands anytime.
Cheers Des
