Pure madness.................again
Christchurch, that most English of cities outside of UK has again been hit.
Not like the Quake of 2011, this is far worse.
An Australian armed with a semi automatic gun has walked into a local Mosque and opened fire.
So far 27 dead but worse he had this showing on live stream.
He has, along with others been arrested.
More madness in a world filled with such.ehaviour immediately to 111.
An eyewitness inside the mosque says he heard shots fired and says at four people were lying on the ground and "there was blood everywhere".
An eyewitness says a man wearing a helmet and glasses and a military style jacket opened fire inside the mosque with an automatic weapon.
About 300 people were inside the mosque for afternoon prayers.
People in central Christchurch have been urged to stay indoors and report any suspicious behaviour immediately to 111.
Another eyewitness said people are being evacuated from near a second mosque in Christchurch and police are swarming the area.
All Christchurch schools, Christchurch Hospital and Christchurch City Council buildings hav

Let us pray for all the innocent that have lost their lives and also of course for the poor Families who will suffer for the rest of their lives!

To moderators
Put up a post in the news snippets forum before realising that there was a post on the same subject so can you merge the threads?
BBC now reporting suspicious packages have been found in other cities. The killer has been named as a 28 year old Australian who was not on any security watch list.

Re: Pure madness.................again
Death toll is now 50 with many more still in hospital seriously injured. There are a number of children amongst the dead.
Although there is no gun culture in new Zealand, it did suprise me to see how easy it is to purchase many types of weapons by having only a basic licence. There appears to be little or no registration law for gun ownership nor a restriction on how many and what type of gun, an individual can own.
A truly shocking incident carried out by a mad man who streamed it live on the internet and despite it been taken down quickly the video and his long written rant is still out there for anyone to view as it had been copied many times before the original was taken down.

Re: Pure madness.................again
Yes, There are lots of guns in NZ but there are plenty of checks in place before any person is allowed to purchase a firearm and remember this is a farming country and most farmers have several weapons on their farms for controlling pests etc and many Gun Clubs exist and have existed for many years without any problems. All it takes is one madman to upset that state of affairs. regards Peter in NZ.

I don’t have much to say as subject will just lead to politics. There was every chance of this happening andcould be in any part of the world. Violence always leads to violence and don’t be surprised if counter productive responses are made by other meat. Heads. JS

Hi John S.
All I can say is it had to be a bloody Aussie which will stir the clowns up over here, and there are more of the mad bastwards here than NZ.
And with deference to the people killed in NZ, those overseas leaders who raised their voices against this atrocity should have been doing it at the beginning when the whole of Europe was in lock-down, then it might not have come to this

Re: Pure madness.................again
I now have on my computer, thanks to an upgrade, a small flag that on occasions pops up when there may be something of interest in the news, most of it is crap and I take little notice.
Friday afternoon it came up again and I chose to look in.
What I was watching, though not knowing at the time, was life coverage of the slaughter.
At first I thought it was one of those video games, but after about 8 or 9 seconds it went off.
Couple of minutes later I heard the news on the radio.
My fear now is that some radicalized guy from those will set off a bomb or worse in some church as revenge.
The shop where the guns were purchased had the owner saying he had provided all the legal documents back in 2017 to obtain the guns.
As I write the NZ gov is debating changes to the NZ gun laws.
It has been said how terrible it was that this act was done by an Aussie.
No, he may have been born in Oz, but no Aussie would do such a terrible thing.
That goes for the few who have committed similar here in mainland and in Tassie.

Will it never end.
Now in the city of Utrect in Holland a shooting on a tram.
Number of injured and some thought to be dead.
There is a madness creeping across the globe just now, one that will be far more dangerous than we can imagine I fear.
