Panama c anal, gatun lake
https://www.yahoo.com/news/scientist...113003544.html
The enlargement of the Panama canal has led to some species of fish in the gatun lake being decimated by an invasion of foreign fish from salt water species from the Caribbean.

Hi John A.
That is similar to the Star fish invasion on our Great Barrier Reef a few years ago, brought own by ships from the far East. Torist Liners had to have their hulls cleaned off before entering Aus and NZ, don't know what happened about that haven't heard anything lately, maybe John in Melbourne may know.

Re: Panama c anal, gatun lake
Des, as far as I am aware the problem is no where as bad as it was.
Ships entering Port Melbourne must be declared 'Clean' though not sure who does that.
We did have a lot of them in the Port, could easily see them in the clear water, but have not seen any for a few years now.
Biggest problem for the reef now is coral bleaching.
No Ivan that is not Carol bleaching her hair before she goes out Saturday night.
But according to some scientists and weathermen that is a regular occurrence nothing to do with climate.
I know some years ago in Bali I picked up a number of such corals lying on the beach.

Happy daze John in Oz.

In that case Des hope he doesn’t use your name when he registers at the bad boys ward at the local hospital, saying my name is Des X and I have an empty flag locker. JS
