Joined isle of grain nov 1962 tanker all back aft accommodation. Built 1960 every rating had own cabin smart ship . West indies, west,south and east africa, persian gulf, suez,continent paid off april 1963 sunderland my home port. Anybody out there who sailed on her.

Hi Eddie,
I joined Stuart Prince on 1th Nov 1968 in South Shields.
Traveled most of the world on her including Scandinavia, South America, Africa, Middle East, Australia, India, Pakistan, Lebanon, Gibraltar, Malta, Canary Isles.
She was a Great Ship and my most enjoyable one.
Chief Engineer was Albert Braithwaite & 2nd was Bob Templeton.
I was just a mere Cadet at the time but those guys taught me heaps.

Flew back on the last Comet to Heathrow from Malta.

Hi Eddie, you are right ,she was a smart ship. I joined her in Isle of Grain also, but I think it was Dec 69 or Dec 70. Remember spending christmas up in Porsgruun, ( Norway ). Spent most of the time shovelling snow off the decks. Bob Mac.

Hi Bob,
I agree Bob, she was a great ship. Had many good hours aboard and ashore.
I remember also being in Porsgrunn but on 30th & 31st December 1968.
We then moved to Kristiansand S for New Years Day.
I also remember fixing up a steam line on deck as we went up the Fiord. Bloody freezing that night and the ice was thick on the deck & hand rails the next morning.
Glad I live where it never snows now.
