My enduring memories of that awful school are; always being hungry. (the food was inadequate for growing boys) The massive waste of time spent marching, learning SEMAPHORE and the Morse Code, none of which we ever needed to employ when we eventually went to sea. The rope work, which I took to easily, and splicing, palm and needle work were the only useful skills they taught us. I joined the Port Napier in February of 1965 in Liverpool. I couldn't believe the size of the meals we were given after the near starvation rations at PWSTS!

Hi jeff,was at pwsts 1960,it was a bit dickensein,but i did enjoy the school,i readyed me for the mn,also my future career in the marine section of the royal australian airforce,food a lot better but still filled your head head with useless things.
Some of the shipping companies i work for made the pwsts food wonderful ha,ha,
