Welcome
I have been overwhelmed by the number of requests for new passwordsIt is going to take a while as each one has to be dealt with and replied to individually but I am working on them and will get back to you as soon as I am able.Brian.Thank you for your patience, I am getting there.
Did any of you guys go to Happy Valley, cant remember just where it was I am thinking Lima but not certain . It was the old prison in the desert that had been turned into a whore house. All the girls had a photo outside their door and a description of what they specialised in . You could easily tell which where the best by the queue outside..... Didnt fancy following a load of bagged up seamen so settled for one the less popular ones ..............
Hi Wilky,I never was in any of those places, I used to go to the local tea, or coffee house or the local cinema.
Thanks for that Louis should have gone there myself but couldnt find it
Hi Wilky, Next time we are at sea, on the same ship. I will show you where the best tea and coffee shops'are found like South America .
"Happy Valley" red light stockade could be found on the bunkering island of Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, WI Cheers Davey Jones
Remember going there in 56/57 wwith some of the lads when on the Esso Stockholm. Not sure but think you had to have an I.D. card to show when passing thru gate but was never asked for mine. Rumour has it, was put there by Joe Shell. Can anyone confirm? Mike
Hi guys thanks for the memory jog . We did call at curacoa on that trip , but we went to so many others that all the memories of it and all the things that happened seem to get mixed up. [ The bacardi and cokes didnt help either]
Here's to tall ships Here's to small ships Here's to all the ships on the sea But the best ships are friendships .. Here's to you and me . Mick. R832100
Hi Captain Kong, Wilky, Shipmates' I think my memory must be going but did the "Cokes' cost more than the Bacardi, or Copra libra, I like mine with a slice of lemon and ice, But only If there was no tea or coffee to drink.
Hi WilkyDefinatly Curaco..Out of the Mad House and away to Happy Valley, allways plenty to talk obout the next morning. Also I remember a place outside of Punta Cardon, some called it Happy Valley others called it the Dessert. Reg.A Clark.
Campo Alegre, I remember well brought back too the ship a dose of dibs and dabs, I had a bright idea of getting rid of them with a generous splash of old spice . it worked but the old plums disapeared fast for a few hours , and the pain was something too behold,
