    Default Hospital visit

Just back home after a 6 day hospital visit. last week wednesday collapsed 3 times , each time luckily enough i was sitting down
Next day to the GP who told me to get to the local hospital pronto.
Got admitted to the emergency room and all the usual tests.
That night at about 2300 had a full heart arrest for 20 seconds. Then transferred to a large hospital in Rotterdam

Cuprit was a medication I had been put on in November 2023 for very fast heart rate . This medicine is so powerful it has
to be checked by blood test every few months as it has an adverse effect on the thorax. This was not done in my case
with the result that the damage to the thorax increased to dangerous levels.

Back home now with other medication but the message I want to put out is to make sure to ask what adverse effect any medication
you are put on may have and that others are aware. Unfortunatly I did'nt do that.

John I went for tests yesterday for what I thought were going to be tests on my legs , to,my surprise they were electrical tests about the side of the neck. Thought by now I would have had just about every test going , I take about 16 tablets a day what for don’t really know as other complaints apart from the heart. But probably like yourself have always had a fast heart beat , it was only when got to 60 years they got concerned about the nautical medicals and had to take tablets to get the rate down to pass muster. The shipping doctor who wouldn’t pass me unless I got BP down died Himself a few years ago and he was much younger than me. Best of luck and health. JS

Thanks for the best wishes lads , very kind.
I should have asked more about the medicine then should have asked when I had to come back for a progress check. Maybe then
a bell would sound that things should be regularly checked.
But it is only human that one trusts a doctor without thinking - in this case wrongly.

Like I said John I take a lot of tablets for various things on advice only. A fairly recent one was a choice of another tablet once a week or an injection every 6 months and this was stressed it was imperative to have this injection at the stipulated period , on the understanding they would inform me as necessary. I think Des mentioned something similar in one of his posts. However believe this is a strong vitamin D injection and is usually for bone density. We have to take advice from those who know more than ourselves in the knowledge of medicine so we give that trust to them with great hopes that they are correct .Cheers we all have to have faith in others at times . This injection is in the stomach. JS.

Not sure but think vitamin D is lack of sunlight. Over the years the sheriff was on a lot of tablets and such like. About each year the medical mob would send a pharmacist to check on what she was taking. Reason being to make sure that each and every medication was not stuffing her up. Quiet a few times he would recomend reducing or stop taking some of them and would send his recomendations to the doctor. I am on about three tablets a day and working on reducing them as well. Two for diabetes and one for colesterol. I strongly recomend that those on muliple medications take steps to ask their doctor to get the pharmacutical bloke to pay them a visit so he can actually see what you are on and how to take them so as to not cause complications. Doctors do not seem to have the time to do this themselves as it is quiet a long process. Not knocking doctors but they usually have so many on their books that they do not have the time. Sorry about not knowing the specific name of this service as the sheriff died and hence so did that information.

    HI John.
I was shocked when I read about your bout in hospital, I thought you where one of our fittest, glad to hear that you are in better shape now mate, look after yourself, the only time a Dr knows you are in a bad way is if you are in his surgery or hospital.
That injection I have is called Zoladex, been having them every three months since 1962, it's an implant for Prostate cancer, lately the Dr started me on a very tiny pill to relieve pressure on the heart, I didn't even know I had any, gets rid of fluid, I now get out every night about four times, Bugger.
Good luck John and keep safe mate.
    Cheers Des

Have had the pharmisist Les she said tablets ok, however the heart specialist thought different twice and came down from 19 a day to the present 16.
My wife turned down the injection for Vitamin D ? and takes the tablet once a week,me opted for the injection the less tablets the better. You should see
My rap sheet from Dr. to specialist , among the many problems she has slipped in “ refuses to wear hearing aids” , I was polite and just said pardon a couple of times, after all she persisted on wearing a mask., jS. Ps that saying too many cooks spoil the broth , could in some cases apply to the medical profession, and too many doctors ruin the medication.,cheers JS.
