    Default Bad foods

A report today shows that Australia has the highest concentration of take away food s of any nation.

McDonalds, KFC, and a couple of dozen other very popular ones,.

Overseas companies see Oz as a good place to build new ones, so popular with all, the convenience of such outlets is what makes them so popular.

Pop into Maccas for brekie, garb some KFC on the wat home, easier than cooking.
The TV and radio advertising for them is non stop.

But now great concern about the damage they are doing to the population, big health issues now.

Medicos are now seeing more and more with Cardiovascular disease, obesity, lung problems and general health issues.

Calls for advertising to be reduced fall on deaf ears, these companies donate to the various political parties, why would they stop the adds.

But it is becoming a major problem here now.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

    Welcome to the u.k
Our government and the NHS are constantly onto us telling there is a obesity crisis and fast food outlets are being restricted in their advertising before the 9pm watershed on the t.v.
Government bangs on about your BMI as a means of calculating if you are obese.
Years ago when annual medicals were introduced in the mN, the criteria for measuring whether you were overweight was to measure the width of your elbow against your height and use a chart provided by the insurance companies to determine if you were overweight.
This gave up some very weird outcomes, a pal of mine, well over 6 feet in height and having less meat on him that can be found on a jockeys whip was told he was overweight. Those medicals were used by a number of companies to get rid of people if they couldn't comply.

The more modern method is to divide your waist measurement in cms by your height in cms and if the result exceeds 0.5 you are deemed obese. So far I haven't reached 0.5 (yet)

Since living on me tod I find that I do not use take aways anywhere near as much as when the sheriff was alive. Much prefer to cater for myself. I recalled how as a kid in Kingston we would put spuds in the ash tray and when cooked smear them with butter and dig in as well as eating the outer. Yes probably carcongetic but we survied and they tasted great. Now I occassionaly put a couple of spuds into the air fryer for fifty minutes but they are never as tasty as those old ones where. Plenty of choice as to what to cook for ones self. Who ever would have thought it that this would be me. If you had told me when I was on deck I would have been horified at the thought along with managing money.
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.

Although we do still Eat Takeaways at times Les, i too find that Cooking for the two of us is really easy and convienient. Most times we just eat whats available but seem to make the most of whats here!

Funny i too love my Spuds, and Today i am having Boiled Spuds (Boiled Yesterday) and in the Fridge, now i will slice them in Quite thick slices and Fry them in Butter.
Make them nice and Golden Brown, then a blob of Thickened Cream, (Her Indoors uses Sour Cream).
With that i use a Can of Asparagus Tips, with the Juice of a Lemon and a bit of Ground Black Pepper!
That our Meal for the day!

This Evening, just a Biscuit or three, a Cuppa and then snuggle into Bed! Its cold Today here with Rain!
Looks that way for the Week!
    Cheers

I do similar with my spuds, but add onion and a little bit of Cayane pepper to go with it.
