Hi just joined the site - great fun - was anybody on the Oronsay 1966 - 1967 .She was my first ship as deck boy - my deck man was a guy called Owen ( can't remember his last name) . Did two world trips on her before moving on to VLCC with Esso BP and Shell.

We had the time of our lives spent my 16th Birthday on Hawaii- £25 a month puls overtime .Fags 10 and 6 a carton !!!! Would be great to here from any of the deck crew who sailed on her then .

Hi Howard, do you remember an AB called "Spud Murphy" he had been on it for a few years (a really nice bloke) helped me a lot when I was a Deck Boy '63/64 and then as an EDH April '67 to January '68, also there used to be a Deckman called "Dunster" ( not sure of his first name) on the Stadium deck in '67 he was a deck boy with me in '63.

Here you will find a great Crew of blokes around,they are both Knowledgable,and also sometimes quite hilarious,as you will soon find out!
Take no notice of John in a Daze! He doesnt know if his coming or going haha!
Now more so as he is off on a Cruise! Lucky Beggar! Hope he will find his Cabin haha!

good time had by all ! I was only eighteen !

Hi Howard, i was on Oronsay in 66. Bosun William Phillips, our bosuns mate Jack Webb big tall guy from Gravesend great bloke. Remember Spud he was in my watch heavy gang. Were you on that trip when a little problem with party revellers night before docking in Auckland. If mind right we had 2 locked up in Brig. Also guy that was in my cabin from Campbelltown missed ship in Honolulu, then again in Lisbon last port before Tilbury. Where have the good times gone,Regards Jim Egan:

Oronsay was my first ship also,Left The Prince of wales sea traing school and joined her in Liverpool.
I only done 1one and half trips on her was rushed ashore in LA ( dont remember that) and was operated on in Long beach Hospital, They would not allow me to sail home so Fly me Pan am to Heathrow.

Hi Jim, remember that well, I was the little Ginger Haired bloke on the 12 to 4 watch who had to give you all a shake to go and sort them out, they were chucking deck chairs in the tourist class swimming pool. A couple of kiwi blokes retuning from the States, the old bill took them off in Auckland next morning. I think it was around '63/'64 as I was a JOS, I maybe wrong though.
