Hi John I was with Esso for a lot of years, on VLCCs and then on the smaller ones until redundancy.

hi brian my last vlcc was the demisia i finished mediclal redundancy of the fife liked that ship a lot so sad to see them all gone cheap crews now im afraid thats the way it is no jobs for the young now nice to keep in touch if your around john

Hi John,
I didnt do the Demetia, I was on the Northumbria, Ullidia, Caledonia, and Hibernia, the last VLCC was the Dalriada Third Mate, and got injured on Sea Island in the Gulf, so then onto the Aberdeen to the Brent and then realised they had lovely little ships like the Caernarvon running to the Channel Islands, much nicer than the Sea Islands. and only four weeks on and four weeks off.
Were you on the Demetia when she was hit by an exocet in the Gulf war?
I was made redundant when all the ships were heading for Taiwan. Took the big hand shake, very useful.

Hi John , i'm new to this , sailed with esso in the early 70's , esso Anglia , cambria , newcastle , york , cardiff , pembrokeshire to name a few , i'll have route out my old discharge book , finished late 70,s and joined the fire service , and now i'm semi retired . had some great times with esso and made some fantastic friends , would love to go back on the vlcc,s and the saturday night,s in the bar . I will have to look up some names , see if recognise anyone . I was an AB on all trips and sailed with some brilliant guys . look forward to hearing from you . Alan

I too sailed with Esso - Cardiff, Warwickshire, Clyde, Tyne, Severn, Milford Haven, Humber, Mersey from 1977 until 1984 - Electrical Officer. I'd love to hear from any former shipmates.

Hi shipmates, Hi john I was on Esso ships great crews good pay, esso hythe /esso brixham 1970-1971 bunkers all the famous big ships and power stations all over the place ireland scoland and fawley milford haven and southampton , got drunk on the Northumbria a big ship,may have seen Captain Kong but was very drunk , so cant remember much? happy days in them days was on many ships drinking in port No bars on the small Esso ships. in port some nights.

Remember you well had you as my watch ab numerous times
Remember meeting your wife at an esso meeting at dorms hotel
I stayed with Esso till the end captain on Avon. Ch officer on Fife on her last run
Then went to Bp as captain
I remember you were big pals with wee Jackie the ab
Hope you and wife are both well
