Help
Welcome aboard Vince, if you want the lads to help they will need more information. Full name............date of Birth.............Place of Birth.................Date of Death.........any other information that you are aware of, what department was in in whilst serving in the merchant navy, deck/engineroom/catering, the slightest bit of information you may regard as insignificant can be of great help to our boys. Have you any of his old documents, numbers etc etc

A quick look on Ancestry.co.uk gives over 70 john Cohens who would have been around at the time of World War II so any of the details Ivan mentions would narrow it down a lot

Hi Vince
Welcome !
Short and sweet haha!
Just wondering as you mention Merchant Marines!
That to me is pointing towards the United States MM ,is that correct?
Or is in in fact MN United Kingdom!?
Thanks

Hi, thank you for all the warm welcomes.
Very little knowledge, my father hardly spoke of his life in Britain. All I know is.
John Noel Cohen, born peacehaven 25/12/1920
Father Harry Cohen. Mothers maiden name lascelle.
Service merchant navy. He spoke of battle of the Atlantic . Taking tanks etc to Russia.
Do you know of a ship that had its bow blown off and sailed back via stern. Just something my mum old me... I was once told he may have had someone to do with spying.. Not sure about that... Or where to start looking.
This may be of help to someone I. The know or where to look further. I am coming to UK in September. Planning on trying to find something of his past. He passed away in 2004.
Regards and any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
