Default Hi from Mission, British Columbia

Hello everyone. My name is Pat and my interest lies in tracing my family history. I'm hoping to discover the place and date of death of my 2nd grt grandfather, Stewart/Stuart STEVEN/STEPHEN. Stewart was born in 1835 in Scotland and was an AB in the merchant marines for most of his life. The names of some of the vessels he was on were the Livonea, Laurine and Cordova. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the site, Pat. Not a better bunch of lads anywhere. I've been searching for my dad and they've been very helpful. It may help them if you know your 2nd grt grandfather's date of birth. Have you tried Find My Past?

    Cheers,

Hi Brian - sorry to be so late in responding. This could well be the Livonia/Livonea. My only resource is the 1871 census indicating he was a crew member. Does this time frame fit in with a sailing vessel?

Hi Marian: My apologies for late response. Yes, I do have the 1841 census thank you. I also have the 1861, 1871 and 1881 censuses; the 1871 and 1881 indicate he is an AB. He is onboard the "SS Cordova" in 1881.

    Pat.
The angus council now have archives here in Forfar Angus.
I'm sure they would be able to help.
In Forfar there is many families named Steven and stevens.
I can't remember their e mail , but sure you could get it on the angus web page.
