Chusan
I spent about eighteen months on the Chusann 58/59. Terrific job for a young, naive(?) teenager. Anyone out there who worked in catering around the same time? I did my bit at Gravesend sea school; that old, Victorian prison! I'm retired now of course. You can read more about me on my website: www.michaeljparker.com

G'Day Mick, I was at the Gravesend Sea School in Oct 1959, left Nov after the catering course and my first ship was the P&O Corfu, first trip Hong Kong....as you say what an adventure for a young lad, learnt more about life in the first month than I did with all those years at school, six weeks at GSS seemed more like 6 years at the time, but good memorys eh.
Cheers, Roger

With A Little Help From My Merchant Navy Friends”.
“With A Little Help From My Merchant Navy Friends” will initially be a digital affair, it will certainly begin that way. The concept will be built up and all progress reported within the blog http://hernamewasss.blogspot.com/ all material may eventually be published in some format and used for exhibitions, remembrance services etc, for fund raising or as a giveaway etc. Also, distributed to schools, Libraries, Exhibitions etc.
Wondered if you would be interested in contributing, this could be just from adding your link and telling all more, hence free advertising and a chance to promote all further to donating relevant related chapters etc. Any choice would be yours, looking to donate and or sell at a donation cost etc to those interested. All funds raised will go to MN good cause, Memorials etc.
With A Little Help From My Merchant Navy Friends” follow progress or join in at: http://hernamewasss.blogspot.com/
A new concept, just taking off, no obligation - require content and permission initially, time frame for completion is long as said all is new, so removal / cancellation would be easy if required.
jUST REQUIRE A PLEDGE.
K.
